Rockhill Furnace Work Session: August 7-8, 2004 Mini-Session

The fourth Rockhill work session of the EBT's 2004 summer season took place Saturday and Sunday, August 7-8. There were seven workers on Saturday and eight on Sunday.

Those participating included Bill Adams, Charlie Wootton, Wade Woodcock, Richard Culp, Dick Ullery, Bob Goldby, Bill Meltreder, Reggie Arford and Lee Rainey.

Caboose 28

Installing subroofing
Dick Ullery and Lee Rainey install subroofing on the caboose roof.

This session was focused entirely on Caboose 28. Carpentry work on the sides and ends of the car was completed, and approximately half of the new roof was applied. Repairs were made to the cupola, and reassembly of the iron work continued. The car received a second coat of paint.

Hardware gets primed and painted
Bob Goldby and Richard Culp work on cleaning, priming and painting the caboose hardware.
Windows go in
The window sashes are reinstalled and painted.


Paint goes on
Lee Rainey and Dick Ullery apply the finish paint color on the siding.

Hardware goes on
Wade Woodcock works to bolt the hardware back on the caboose platform.

Installing the roofing
Frank Shoop and Henry Long install the rolled rubber roofing onto the caboose.

Nearly done!
Charlie Wootton finished up on the caboose for the weekend. It is nearing completion.
