The next FEBT Rockhill work session will take place Saturday and Sunday, September 23-24, 2017. We will work our usual daylight savings hours of 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and 9 am to 5 pm Sunday.

Weather

The current forecast for the weekend calls for sunshine with highs in the low 80s. Keep your own eye on the weather by visiting accuweather.com and checking the Rockhill zip code, 17249.

Meals

Local restaurants are available in Orbisonia. Be aware that the Central Pennsylvania Ragtime Festival is in town that weekend. Local restaurants are available in Orbisonia.

Roundhouse

Courtney Brown has identified some new, serious leaks in the roundhouse roof. We will attack these if enough personnel are available.

Boilerhouse Rats

We expect to start repairs to the freight house walls, and also add some internal bracing to increase the rigidity of the over-all structure. This will enable the walls to be permanently attached to the new sill, and we hope to end the weekend with the building leveled and solid, ready to be jacked up clear of the footer piers at the November session. Jim Bacon will lead this project.

Combine 14

The combine crew will be cutting and fitting clerestory components in preparation for final installation once the clerestory windows are glazed. Work will also continue on installing the rubber roofing and on the baggage door posts. Lee Rainey will lead this project.

Steel Crew

This crew will be working on the box car, passenger trucks, and, if time and people are available, on the lumber shed. Steve Jacobs leads the Steel Crew.

Ground Rules

To take part, you must be 18 and a member of the FEBT (or join the FEBT at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.

Last-minute walk-ons are always welcome at our sessions, but if possible, drop me an e-mail in advance to let me know that you are coming. It helps with the planning.

See you there!
Lee
