Rockhill Restoration Session June 24-25, 2017.
The next FEBT Rockhill work session will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 24-25, 2017. We will work our usual daylight savings hours of 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and 9 am to 5 pm Sunday.
The current forecast for the weekend calls for highs in the low 80s with possible showers. Keep your own eye on the weather by visiting accuweather.com and checking the Rockhill zip code, 17249.
The Iron Rail B&B will be offering breakfast only. Local restaurants are available in Orbisonia.
The Rats will work on installing the blacksmith shop flue flashing, and will begin work on the freight house. Jim Bacon will lead this project.
The combine crew will continue with removing old paint from the inside of the car, as well as installing under-window stiffeners and window sash, and fabricating sheathing for the upper body and clerestory. Work will continue on the baggage door posts. We should be able to begin to permanently install some clerestory sheathing. Lee Rainey will lead this project.
This crew will be working on the box car, passenger trucks, and, if time and people are available, on the lumber shed. Steve Jacobs leads the Steel Crew.
Repairs will continue at the south end of the locomotive shop. Bill Adams leads this work.
To take part you must be 18 and a member of the FEBT (or join the FEBT at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.
Last-minute walk-ons are always welcome at our sessions, but if possible, drop me an e-mail in advance to let me know that you are coming. It helps with the planning.
See you there!
