We will work our usual daylight savings hours of 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and 9 am to 5 pm Sunday.

Weather

As with any of our winter sessions, this event is subject to cancellation in case of bad traveling weather. But right now, the current forecast for the weekend is a high of 65 on Saturday and 58 on Sunday, with some rain both days. Keep your own eye on the weather by visiting accuweather.com and checking the Rockhill zip code, 17249.

Meals

The Iron Rail B&B will offer only breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Other meals are available at restaurants in Orbisonia. We’ve also been advised that there is a new restaurant on Croghan Pike in Shirleysburg called The Hidd'n Valley Restaurant.

Boilerhouse Rats

At this work session the Rats will carry on with putting the interior of the foundry back in order. On the east side, more bricks will need to cleaned before everything can go back. (Some items can go back now). The Rats will also install the remaining repaired window sash in the blacksmith shop. Jim Bacon will lead this project.

Combine 14

The combine crew will continue with removing old paint from the inside of the car, as well as installing under-window stiffeners and window sash, and fabricating sheathing for the upper body and clerestory. Lee Rainey will lead this project.

Steel Crew

Depending on the weather, this crew may work on car trucks, or on boxcar 955. Steve Jacobs leads the Steel Crew.

Ground Rules

To take part you must be 18 and a member of the FEBT (or join the FEBT at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.

Last-minute walk-ons are always welcome at our sessions, but if possible, drop me an e-mail in advance to let me know that you are coming. It helps with the planning.

See you there!
Lee
