Agenda for the Rockhill Furnace Work Session - March 17 and 18, 2018.
The third FEBT Rockhill work session will take place Saturday and Sunday, March 17 and 18, 2018.
We will work 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and 9 am to 4 pm Sunday.
The current forecast for the weekend calls for a high of 50 on Saturday, rising to the upper 50s on Sunday. There is a chance of drizzle on Sunday. We watch the weather closely for these winter sessions, and the session is subject to cancellation if, by Thursday, the forecast for either day has changed to ice, snow, or extreme cold. Keep your own eye on the weather by visitingaccuweather.com and checking the Rockhill zip code, 17249.
Local Restaurants are available in Orbisonia.
The Rats will be fitting internal bracing in the freight house, working on the west door frame, and perhaps replacing some siding on the west side. Zac Reitmeyer will lead this project.
The combine crew will be stripping internal paint, and prepping the window posts for the installation of stiffeners. Work will continue on the west side of the roof. If enough hands are available, we will also be cutting and fitting clerestory components in preparation for final installation once the clerestory windows are glazed. Lee Rainey and Charlie Wootton will lead this project.
This crew will be working on the box car and passenger trucks, and in the lumber shed, as the weather allows. Steve Jacobs leads the Steel Crew.
To take part you must be 18 and a member of the FEBT (or join the FEBT at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.
Last-minute walk-ons are always welcome at our sessions, but if possible, drop me an e-mail in advance to let me know that you are coming. It helps with the planning.
See you there!
