Agenda for the Rockhill Furnace Work Session - April 22nd & 23rd.
The next FEBT Rockhill work session will take place Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23, 2017.
We will work our usual daylight savings hours of 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and 9 am to 5 pm Sunday.
Please try extra hard to be on time for our Saturday kick-off meeting. We have some important things to discuss.
The current forecast for the weekend is a high in the low 60s both days and a passing shower Sunday. Keep your own eye on the weather by visiting accuweather.com and checking the Rockhill zip code, 17249.
The Boilerhouse Rats have finished putting the interior of the foundry back in order, and a beautiful job it is! The Rats will be working on a variety of small projects in preparation for the May work week. Jim Bacon will lead this project.
The combine crew will continue with removing old paint from the inside of the car, as well as installing under-window stiffeners and window sash, and fabricating sheathing for the upper body and clerestory. Lee Rainey will lead this project.
Depending on the weather, this crew may work on car trucks, on boxcar 955, or on preparations for a renewed lumber shed push. Steve Jacobs leads the Steel Crew.
To take part you must be 18 and a member of the FEBT (or join the FEBT at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.
Last-minute walk-ons are always welcome at our sessions, but if possible, drop me an e-mail in advance to let me know that you are coming. It helps with the planning.
See you there!
