Friends of the East Broad Top Buda Handcar
FEBT volunteers first restored this EBT handcar in 1984, replacing some frame members, the deck, the wooden handles, and working on the connecting rod bearing. The subsequent years saw it leave the property, but in May 1990 the FEBT purchased the handcar and later returned it to the EBT at Robertsdale, PA. It was used in a limited capacity, as the wheel bearings were worn and additional frame members were found to be in poor condition. In the Fall of 2006 the handcar was moved to the FEBT's car restoration facility in the EBT's paint shop for another round of repairs. Several frame members were replaced and a storage area in the superstructure was restored to hold an oilcan. New bronze bearings were machined and installed, and the car's paint was touched up. The handcar has been moved back to Robertsdale and is once again ready for service.
